CPUs for PEs and PMPs  

In order to serve the needs of Professional Engineers and Project Management Professionals for their required annual continuing education hours, Yorkinc is scheduling sessions that correlate with requirements of the Texas Society  of Professional Engineers and as a Registered Education Provider by the Project Management Institute.  Four or seven class hour courses are being offered.

  • Insights into Personal Effectiveness is a course requiring four  hours of class time that focuses on Strengths, Possible Weaknesses, Value to the Team, Communication Strengths, Barriers to Communication, Possible Blind Spots, Dealing with a Difficult Person,  Suggestions for Development, Ideal Environment,  Management Needs and Behaviors in Managing Others.
    Outcomes: Participants understand their personal behavioral preferences and the preferences of others in order for the group or team to work more collegially and to appreciate the validity of others' differences.

  • Insights Into Personal Effectiveness ll is a course requiring seven hours of class time that focuses on Strengths, Possible Weaknesses, Value to the Team, Communication Strengths, Barriers to Communication, Possible Blind Spots, Dealing with a Difficult Person, Suggestions for Development, Ideal Environment,  Management Needs and Behaviors in Managing Others.  Additional content includes Effective Selling Strategies that provide a sales model for  non-sales people, including Before the Sale Begins, Identifying Needs, Proposing a Solution, Dealing with Buying  Resistance, Gaining Commitment and Follow-up and Follow-through.
    Outcomes: Participants understand their personal behavioral preferences and the preferences of others in order for the group or team to work more collegially and to appreciate the validity of others' differences.  Participants learn to use a sales model that emphasizes relationships as the key to achieving a competitive marketing advantage.

All  basic courses include two follow up sessions designed to assist engineers to apply  and to utilize the basic information obtained.  Techniques include general discussion of individual problems and concerns, role-play and simulation activities. Each follow-up session is designed to  provide and enhance strategies for solving interpersonal problems and creating a productive and harmonious workplace, characterized by a successful business development strategy.

Each participant receives a PMI, Certificate of Completion.
